Welcome to the Shotokan Karate Centre in Lewisham, South East London. We are part of Japan Shotokan Karate England (JSKE). Our primary objectives are to teach and foster the development of authentic Shotokan Karate. The Japanese martial art of Shotokan Karate is one of the most traditional and widely practised forms of karate in the world today. Shotokan puts heavy focus on kihon (basic techniques), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) to develop a range of powerful, dynamic techniques.The Japan Karate Association (JKA) has refined Shotokan even further creating a related but unique style all of its own. Shotokan Karate training has many benefits when correctly taught and practiced. In addition to the self-defence element, it builds confidence, it develops physical fitness and it improves stamina, immunity & longevity. It can also assist in weight reduction, enhance self-awareness, reduces stress and cultivate intellectual and academic ability.
